With an all-out effort, Yupandú FC's Pablo Erasto threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Emiliano Loren, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 18 minutes into the match, Yupandú FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Rojas came free, but Luis Bastia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Yupandú FC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Marciano Rencio hit a great ball. Pablo Erasto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cirilo Iratzeder in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 24th minute, Marciano Rencio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Cebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Pablo Erasto made a huge save. Pablo Erasto made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Severino Roano sent off a good shot on target. When Júlio Melendez fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La Candela FC's protests and gave Júlio Melendez a yellow card for diving instead. Júlio Melendez hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Cebo to make the kick off. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Yupandú FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while La Candela FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
