A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Deivid Queirós hit a great ball. In the 36th minute, Aníbal Paulista sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mauro de Salles didn't even have to move. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Renato Souza in the 41st minute of play forced Joinville City - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Joaquim Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jailson de Carvalho made a kick off. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Chico Lopez charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chico Lopez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 80 played minutes Joinville City - FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Chico Lopez. The crowd rose to their feet as Neymar Joinvilense kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mauro de Salles. That made the score 1-2 in the 83 minute of play. After 86 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Zé Carlos Cordeiro. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Deivid Queirós got a free kick in the 87th minute. Cesinha Cruz hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. 95 minutes into the game, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Jailson de Carvalho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquim Amaral made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
