Lamine Yambao could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Alejandro Santxol made a huge save. The supporters of Clube Atlético Mineiro booed when C.A.M.P was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Dalmau didn't get a good kick on the ball. 7 minutes into the match, C.A.M.P's goalkeeper Alejandro Santxol had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfredão da Costa. José Maria Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Siro Gimenez in the 11th minute of play. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Alejandro Santxol, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lamine Yambao in the 30th minute of play forced C.A.M.P's goalkeeper Alejandro Santxol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to C.A.M.P getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Marco Kelemen hit a great ball. C.A.M.P's defense didn't have a chance, in the 33rd minute, when Lamine Yambao scored to the left of an out of position Alejandro Santxol, making the score, 1-0. C.A.M.P's Alejandro Santxol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lamine Yambao in the 39th minute of play. Siro Gimenez took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Maria Carvalho. José Maria Carvalho dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Teodoro Pereyra to make the kick off. 57 minutes into the game, Vítor Coelho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Clube Atlético Mineiro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C.A.M.P the free kick. In the 60th minute of the match C.A.M.P got a corner. Clube Atlético Mineiro's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marco Kelemen ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ramón Negri tried in the 60th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy José Maria Carvalho a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 1-2. C.A.M.P's Pablo Meder was substituted for Victoriano Playo. Clube Atlético Mineiro made a substitution. Lenílson Bertassi replaced Vítor Coelho. Alejandro Santxol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romário Ronaldo in the 69th minute of play. When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Romário Ronaldo sped through C.A.M.P's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alejandro Santxol. José Maria Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Siro Gimenez, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lamine Yambao in the 73rd minute of play forced C.A.M.P's goalkeeper Alejandro Santxol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Clube Atlético Mineiro's José Maria Carvalho got control of the ball when Siro Gimenez tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marco Kelemen during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 81 played minutes C.A.M.P got a freekick which was hit by Marco Kelemen. In the 82nd match minute, C.A.M.P was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Kelemen to maneuver through the defense. 83 minutes into the match, Clube Atlético Mineiro's Alfredão da Costa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alejandro Santxol narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alejandro Santxol came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Clube Atlético Mineiro's Lamine Yambao. But to his dismay, Lamine Yambao quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. In the 87th minute Siro Gimenez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Maria Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Maria Carvalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Siro Gimenez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 95th minute, Emilio Peru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clube Atlético Mineiro's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
