With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dirch Glerum prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dirch Glerum showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zenon Hetman, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute, John-Arne Riise got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 30th minute Jerzy Grocholski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dirch Glerum saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hønning's Dirch Glerum proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Hønning from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Hønning booed when 1909 Tarnovia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position.
