After some careless play in the Carqueja defense, Dario Alegría kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cordairo Segura. The Carqueja fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cordairo Segura should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Oliverio Cavallosa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jailson Teles was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Carqueja were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after AVAÍ F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mario Vielva took the corner. Franco Garro charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Franco Garro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Franco Garro hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. AVAÍ F.C.'s Jailson Teles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mario Vielva in the 37th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dario Alegría in the 43rd minute of play forced Carqueja's goalkeeper Cordairo Segura to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Carqueja's Franco Garro got a free kick in the 45th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After 54 played minutes Carqueja got a freekick which was hit by Elizardo Massana. Carqueja's Cordairo Segura played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walmyr Salles in the 58th minute of play. Rubens Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. AVAÍ F.C.'s Tarcisio Chaves was substituted for Luiz Pombal. AVAÍ F.C. made a substitution. Claus Van De Wiele replaced Dario Alegría. 66 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s Walmyr Salles sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cordairo Segura narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice moves Elizardo Massana could shoot a difficult shot in the 68th minute, which Jailson Teles however easily saved by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mario Vielva got free with Jailson Teles in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in AVAÍ F.C.'s zone, Mario Vielva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jailson Teles came out of the goal and Mario Vielva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carqueja made a substitution. Tiago Zotillo replaced Oliverio Cavallosa. Jailson Teles made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mario Vielva in the 90th minute. 92 minutes into the game, Carqueja's Mario Vielva nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jailson Teles made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Walmyr Salles scored 2-2 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cordairo Segura, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
