Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remo Paraense in the 11th minute of play. The supporters of GIOVANNI DZIADZIA booed when Club Atlético de Newell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. William Dunning didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remo Paraense in the 17th minute of play forced Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Dušan Ančic to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Iker Boruc stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hugo Alexandersen's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Remo Paraense who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Dušan Ančic when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Remo Paraense to make the kick off. Despite being the better team, Club Atlético de Newell failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
