Johnny Lange hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Marcel Muscaș stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adolfo Vogel's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. 22 minutes into the match, The Reds's goal looked a bit too open when Jack Ares came free, but Sten Andreasson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fred Isaksson to make the kick off. The The Reds manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Granicerul to win.
