The audience thought a goal was coming when Dabi Vila got free with Yuriy Babushkin in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nereo Cacheres did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 4-2 to the left of a surprised Yuriy Babushkin 45 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Deportivo Messina's Luis Cordario was substituted for Rene Pierres. Deportivo Messina's Jonathan Guillerme was substituted for Paulino Vellito. The wind increased when Dabi Vila made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dabi Vila in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yuriy Babushkin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nereo Cacheres scored 5-2 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Yuriy Babushkin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Teodosio Ascencio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Deportivo Messina getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Jonathan Guillerme hit a great ball. When Los once leones Ourense's Dabi Vila in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The crowd rose to their feet as Teodosio Ascencio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Albano Unzueta. That made the score 5-3 in the 97 minute of play. Deportivo Messina's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
