Oscar Simões kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in AKI CORINTHIANS's zone, Teodosio Ascencio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paredes Fortes came out of the goal and Teodosio Ascencio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ciro Brasil's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Yuriy Babushkin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. When Deportivo Messina's Hector Jerardo in the 26th minute got a chance for a shot 26th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hector Jerardo in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paredes Fortes saved AKI CORINTHIANS from getting behind. Deportivo Messina's Jonathan Guillerme suffered a concussion in the 70th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. In the 71st match minute, AKI CORINTHIANS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vânderson Castro to maneuver through the defense. 75 minutes into the game, Domingo Jakue recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Paredes Fortes. Domingo Jakue showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. A collision led to AKI CORINTHIANS getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Vânderson Castro hit a great ball. After some careless play in the AKI CORINTHIANS defense, Teodosio Ascencio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paredes Fortes. The AKI CORINTHIANS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paredes Fortes should have stopped the shot. When the final whistle sounded Deportivo Messina left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than AKI CORINTHIANS.
