The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Squadra Demarchi booed when Galati Harbour Cats was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shi Li didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oscar Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Shi Li in the 5th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Galati Harbour Cats's Shi Li sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Oscar Saldanha narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Richard Moura fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Squadra Demarchi's protests and gave Richard Moura a yellow card for diving instead. In the 10th match minute, Squadra Demarchi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard Moura to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 13 minutes, Shi Li managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galati Harbour Cats's supporters crossed their fingers, but Shi Li was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Squadra Demarchi defense, Shi Li kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oscar Saldanha. The Squadra Demarchi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oscar Saldanha should have stopped the shot. Oscar Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shi Li, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the game, Shi Li cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Oscar Saldanha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Galati Harbour Cats's Dan Petrescu quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Mané Xavier, made in the 22nd minute of the game. 26 minutes into the game, Galati Harbour Cats's Shi Li nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Oscar Saldanha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. In the 31st minute, Antoni Dembkowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Shi Li took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Oscar Saldanha. Shi Li sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shi Li in the 43rd minute of play forced Squadra Demarchi's goalkeeper Oscar Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Claudinho Pinho was the one to do the kick off. The audience was convinced that Shi Li's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oscar Saldanha was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Shi Li could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Oscar Saldanha made a huge save. Oscar Saldanha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galati Harbour Cats. Galati Harbour Cats's Petruț Iliuță was substituted for Valeriu Zdrobiş. 77 minutes into the game, Shi Li recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Oscar Saldanha. Shi Li showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. Shi Li scored 0-6 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oscar Saldanha, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 87 minutes into the match, Squadra Demarchi's goal looked a bit too open when Ianis Man came free, but Oscar Saldanha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Galati Harbour Cats's Shi Li in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
