After a defensive mix-up in MEXACOMX's zone, Attilio Pani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Januário Rangel came out of the goal and Attilio Pani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wu Liang Mo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Válter Tasso having to interfere. In the 39th minute Emiliano Lucchetta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Januário Rangel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ricardo Guerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Válter Tasso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Januário Rangel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emiliano Lucchetta, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
