In the 4th minute Dimas Amaro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Óscar Cordoba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matias Bilintx sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute, İbrahima Diallo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diego Maradona got free with Thomas Revheim in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dimas Amaro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Óscar Cordoba read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. POPODARA F.C's Thomas Revheim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save POPODARA F.C from getting a goal against them. In the 29th minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Revheim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matias Bilintx sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thomas Revheim came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx. But to his dismay, Matias Bilintx quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Bendik Bekken kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Matias Bilintx succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 39th playminute. Matias Bilintx who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 42ndth minute tested the skills of Thomas Revheim when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruperto Gonza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 47 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Saturnino Curcio. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Gard Bredesen made the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes, Matias Bilintx made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. POPODARA F.C's Thomas Revheim tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 57th minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Revheim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60thth minute of the game Matias Bilintx who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but POPODARA F.C's Thomas Revheim was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Bendik Bekken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Venancio Emesto replaced Alejandro Rufo. In the 64thth minute of the game Matias Bilintx who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but POPODARA F.C's Thomas Revheim was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Diego Maradona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Revheim having to interfere. Óscar Cordoba made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andres Iniesta in the 70th minute. When Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye POPODARA F.C's goalie prevented a goal. POPODARA F.C's Ådne Svensen was substituted for Ruperto Gonza. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Atilano Feo replaced Carlo Crema. 82 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Dimas Amaro came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. POPODARA F.C's Thomas Revheim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Maradona in the 83rd minute of play. In the 88th minute of the match Sporting de Gijón got a corner. POPODARA F.C's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gabriel Diaz ran over to the corner to take the kick. Gard Bredesen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Óscar Cordoba read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matias Bilintx in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thomas Revheim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Sporting de Gijón fans' excitement grew in the 92nd match minute when Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 94th minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Revheim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sporting de Gijón's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
