Mihail Toader who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 12thth minute tested the skills of Rosendo Balesio when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 17th minute Wei De Ling shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Souchu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. AC Rangers's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Renan Bouzat scored to the left of an out of position Rosendo Balesio, making the score, 1-0. Wei De Ling fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustave Souchu having to interfere. The supporters of AC Rangers booed when R.C. Marseille was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jean-Marc Buisson didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the match, AC Rangers's Wei De Ling sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gustave Souchu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 30th minute Cyrille Melon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rosendo Balesio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute R.C. Gustave Souchu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Napoleon Penkalski, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cyrille Melon to make the kick off. When Cyrille Melon came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the R.C. Marseille fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cyrille Melon couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cyrille Melon in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rosendo Balesio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. AC Rangers's Rosendo Balesio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cyrille Melon in the 63rd minute of play. Rosendo Balesio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cyprien Auguste in the 65th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cyrille Melon in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rosendo Balesio saved AC Rangers from getting behind. Gustave Souchu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wei De Ling in the 73rd minute. When Clodoveo Neto came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the AC Rangers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clodoveo Neto couldn't finish the play. After 85 minutes, Djibril Mourot made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. AC Rangers's Rosendo Balesio tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 92nd minute Djibril Mourot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rosendo Balesio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 94th minute R.C. Marseille were awarded a corner. Renan Bouzat went to the cornerflag to take it. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. R.C. Marseille had played much better football throughout.
