With a little luck, FC Buzău's Gheorghe Baldovin got control of the ball when Sören Bengtsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jorg Pieters got free with Gheorghe Baldovin in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 37 minutes into the match, FC Buzău's goal looked a bit too open when Sören Bengtsson came free, but Gheorghe Baldovin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felipe Roldan's late challenge caught a FC Buzău's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felipe Roldan helped the player get up and apologised.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Isidoro Beltran to make the kick off. 58 minutes into the match, Jorg Pieters had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gheorghe Baldovin.
