Rubens Abreu charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rubens Abreu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Itajaí Football Club's Rubens Abreu got a free kick in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Massa in the 23rd minute of play forced Itajaí Football Club's goalkeeper Marcelo Galvão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 29 minutes into the game, when Salamón Ovalle put in a rough tackle. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luiz Massa made a kick off. Marcelo Galvão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eustacio Casos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 53 minutes into the match, Itajaí Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Anthony Cullen came free, but Marcelo Galvão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 56th minute Luiz Massa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Galvão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Anthony Cullen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With an all-out effort, Itajaí Football Club's Tigran Khachaturyan threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Carlos Eduardo da Costa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 80 minutes of play Itajaí Football Club's Leonardo Varela was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 85th match minute, Itajaí Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conrado Miranda to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Eustacio Casos put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Marcelo Galvão. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Toqui Fc had played much better football throughout.
