RIVER's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Xacintu Ribeiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. When Xacintu Ribeiro came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Atlético Bucaramanga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xacintu Ribeiro couldn't finish the play. RIVER:s Marcial Lordi showed great skill when he stopped Hernando Harroyo:s penalty. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Xacintu Ribeiro in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcial Lordi saved RIVER from getting behind. Marcial Lordi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Xacintu Ribeiro went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. RIVER's Marcial Lordi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xacintu Ribeiro in the 38th minute of play. Marcial Lordi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xacintu Ribeiro in the 43rd minute of the match. Atlético Bucaramanga's Patrik Øskan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Atlético Bucaramanga from getting a goal against them. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

After a defensive mix-up in RIVER's zone, Xacintu Ribeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcial Lordi came out of the goal and Xacintu Ribeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. RIVER's Wu Li Zhi was substituted for Eric Târban. Xacintu Ribeiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcial Lordi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Xacintu Ribeiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Marcial Lordi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xacintu Ribeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 73 minutes into the game, Isaac Nuxila was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
