Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Silverio Tuste in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gao Fei prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 11 minutes into the match, Real Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when André-Pierre Gignac came free, but Gao Fei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gao Fei came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Newells Old Boys's Silverio Tuste. But to his dismay, Silverio Tuste quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Newells Old Boys's attentive Cristian Calderon managed to snatch the ball when Jose Primo made a throw-in in the 17th minute of the game. Real Racing Club's Su Yuan Yu got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A hard shot 25 in the game by Su Yuan Yu from a close distance when the talented Serafino Jurdan managed to make a qualified save. Newells Old Boys's players were relieved. Arnaldo Solustiano charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arnaldo Solustiano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Silverio Tuste blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gao Fei having to make a save. Gao Fei took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silverio Tuste, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Newells Old Boys's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by André-Pierre Gignac in the 33rd minute. Gao Fei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André-Pierre Gignac in the 42nd minute of the match. Su Yuan Yu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Serafino Jurdan made a huge save.

Silverio Tuste blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gao Fei having to make a save. Thanks to some nice moves Horacio Errapel could shoot a difficult shot in the 57th minute, which Gao Fei however easily saved by the left post. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Su Yuan Yu couldn't finish the play. In the 64th match minute, Real Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Primo to maneuver through the defense. Gao Fei made an important save on a dangerous shot by Silverio Tuste in the 71st minute. After 74 minutes, Celso Maldonado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Real Racing Club and the Newells Old Boys players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Newells Old Boys booed when Real Racing Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celso Maldonado didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 81 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Real Racing Club! When the match had been going on for 81 minutes, Newells Old Boys's Silverio Tuste got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gao Fei. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silverio Tuste in the 84th minute of play forced Real Racing Club's goalkeeper Gao Fei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Silverio Tuste came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Newells Old Boys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silverio Tuste couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Real Racing Club's Jose Primo got a free kick in the 88th minute. Gao Fei was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and André-Pierre Gignac capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. André-Pierre Gignac really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Alejo Salvino kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match.
