The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ronaldo Giovanelli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jani Toppinen, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 24th minute, Zeca Caca-Rato hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 26 minutes into the game, Beppe Perazzolo threw the ball into play from the sideline. Cafu Ringaa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Anton Brander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Erland Överman hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Carlos Santana might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Anton Brander. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Santana ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Carlos Santana put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Anton Brander. Ronaldo Giovanelli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reinaldo Jaen, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Anton Brander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Santana in the 63rd minute of the match. Galo do Japi's attentive Belmiro Caca-Rato managed to snatch the ball when Vilhelm Axelsson made a throw-in in the 67th minute of the game. Galo do Japi's Cléberson Lara quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Genílson Meireles, made in the 73rd minute of the game. A collision led to Amaranthus getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Zheng Feng Wei hit a great ball. 80 minutes into the match, Amaranthus's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Santana came free, but Anton Brander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Santana in the 82nd minute of play forced Amaranthus's goalkeeper Anton Brander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Galo do Japi played a much better game than Amaranthus and deserved their victory. The Amaranthus players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
