But to his dismay, Remigio Chico quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 39 minutes into the match, Engenheiros da Vila's goal looked a bit too open when Isto Leppiniemi came free, but Eriberto Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cazimir Ogășanu spun around in front of the goal 42 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Engenheiros da Vila's goal. After 43 minutes of play, SE7EN's Isto Leppiniemi made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eriberto Queirós was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Cazimir Ogășanu in the 47th minute of play forced Engenheiros da Vila's goalkeeper Eriberto Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Geraldo Fernandez to make the kick off.
