The crowd rose to their feet as Sociedad Anónima's Velasco Rollan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Aaron Smallwood. That made the score 1-0 after 3 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tyron Velasquez in the 10th minute of play forced Sociedad Anónima's goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 12 minutes of play, Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gianluigi Buffon was left in no man's land by his defense there! Aztore Ferreras got a throw-in 16 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Ramos Trasmiera. The audience thought a goal was coming when Velasco Rollan got free with Aaron Smallwood in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Velasco Rollan in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aaron Smallwood prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Santos FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Niva Bruna was slow to take the kick. During this time Sociedad Anónima's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Niva Bruna got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Aaron Smallwood quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Gianluigi Buffon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 35th minute of play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Velasco Rollan made a kick off. Velasco Rollan took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aaron Smallwood. Aaron Smallwood dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 56th minute of the game. One of Sociedad Anónima:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Santos FC:s goal. After 65 played minutes Santos FC got a freekick which was hit by Tory Weeks. Aztore Ferreras made in the 69th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Niva Bruna. Tory Weeks hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. A collision led to Santos FC getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Tory Weeks hit a great ball. Niva Bruna hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Velasco Rollan in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Sociedad Anónima's attentive Niva Bruna managed to snatch the ball when Cesar Small made a throw-in in the 90th minute of the game. Aaron Smallwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Velasco Rollan in the 92nd minute of play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
