In the 11thth minute of the game Chiquinho Palmeira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Octavio Herrera could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Aaron Smallwood made a huge save. Santos FC's Terence Nicholas quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Marcin Koperski, made in the 21st minute of the game. Enrique Cubria came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Santos FC's Terence Nicholas. But to his dismay, Terence Nicholas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After 24 minutes of play, Santos FC's Terence Nicholas made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Enrique Cubria was left in no man's land by his defense there! Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chiquinho Palmeira in the 28th minute of play. Santos FC were furious when Titus Kohler was red carded, 33 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The audience thought a goal was coming when Akakios Kioubouroglou got free with Aaron Smallwood in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

After some careless play in the Santos FC defense, Akakios Kioubouroglou kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aaron Smallwood. The Santos FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aaron Smallwood should have stopped the shot. In the 62nd minute, Tory Weeks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Arenillas's zone, Tyron Velasquez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enrique Cubria came out of the goal and Tyron Velasquez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A throw-in in the 68th minute of the game was made by Filiberto Merexildo with Warner Anaya as target, who quickly passed the ball forward.
