The referee felt a red card was in order, 18 minutes into the game, when Tord Böcklund put in a rough tackle. After 18 played minutes Matos Velhos got a freekick which was hit by Tord Böcklund. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zosimo Vadillo in the 24th minute of play forced Matos Velhos's goalkeeper Vito de Godoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Matos Velhos's Vito de Godoi got control of the ball when Gustavo Birila tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sergio Jerano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Vito de Godoi made a huge save. Medero Medina kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, Zosimo Vadillo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vito de Godoi. Matos Velhos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zosimo Vadillo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gustavo Birila made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Sergio Jerano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vito de Godoi was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Vito de Godoi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Papillon AC fully deserved thier win.
