Independente FC's Fernando Lucas was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 13th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Edinho Secco hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Rolland Pike fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Gröhe having to interfere. After 21 played minutes Power Soccer Best Club got a freekick which was hit by Thurman Cash. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Nilson Duarte sped through Power Soccer Best Club's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ken Givens. When Fernando Lucas came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Independente FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernando Lucas couldn't finish the play. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Fernando Lucas sped through Power Soccer Best Club's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ken Givens. Mark Griffin hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. 46 minutes into the game, Rico Ferrell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Power Soccer Best Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independente FC the free kick. The supporters of Independente FC booed when Power Soccer Best Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rico Ferrell didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fernando Lucas to make the kick off. Wilber Eastman hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. If Nilson Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Lucas in the 70th minute of play forced Power Soccer Best Club's goalkeeper Ken Givens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
