Sven-Åke Kjellbom made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Elodio in the 5th minute of play. Hemse RK's Sven-Åke Kjellbom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Elodio in the 7th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, Rune Gustafsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Andriy Lunin. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rune Gustafsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After a rather tough play, Hemse RK's Tomas Hägert got a free kick in the 13th minute. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Eustaquio Brufau was substituted for Ödön Szily. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Chen Zhen was substituted for Steffen Michalsky. In the 25th minute, David Elodio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. David Elodio ran back to his position shaking his head. After 43 played minutes SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. got a freekick which was hit by Niculae Ungureanu. 44 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s goal looked a bit too open when Rune Gustafsson came free, but Andriy Lunin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rune Gustafsson in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Andriy Lunin saved SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. from getting behind.

Hemse RK made a substitution. Lirian Andonovski replaced Gösta Nyberg. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Niculae Ungureanu to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rune Gustafsson in the 55th minute of play forced SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Siegfried Danielzick was substituted for Kevin Schade. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
