Juan Giraldo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roque Gora went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 10th minute Edmund Lidberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Giraldo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 10th minute Ferdinand Zdraşcu suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. After 10 minutes, Narciso Chap mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Forever Tango and the Club Olimpia players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 12 played minutes Forever Tango got a freekick which was hit by Narciso Chap. It was Denis Inestrosa who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Club Olimpia's corner Denis Inestrosa fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Juan Giraldo quite easily take care of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roque Gora in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juan Giraldo saved Forever Tango from getting behind. In the 22nd minute Denis Inestrosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Giraldo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th match minute, Forever Tango was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Indar Campon to maneuver through the defense. The Forever Tango players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Club Olimpia were winning 1-2.

The wind increased when Roque Gora made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Club Olimpia booed when Forever Tango was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sixto Gaxan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Giraldo made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Fernando Cardozo sent off a good shot on target. Denis Inestrosa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Juan Giraldo made a huge save. Alfredo Aguilar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Omar Santo in the 71st minute of play. After some careless play in the Forever Tango defense, Roque Gora kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Juan Giraldo. The Forever Tango fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Juan Giraldo should have stopped the shot. Forever Tango's Danilo Montel was substituted for Juan Raúl Amuchástegui. Alfredo Aguilar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Montel in the 84th minute of play. Edmund Lidberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Modesto Txeru in the 89th minute of play forced Club Olimpia's goalkeeper Alfredo Aguilar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th minute of the match Forever Tango got a corner. Club Olimpia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Danilo Montel ran over to the corner to take the kick. Denis Inestrosa hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match.
