The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Décio Cunha during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 36th match minute, Fluminense DF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Décio Cunha to maneuver through the defense. After 38 minutes of play Fluminense DF's Décio Cunha was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 39 played minutes Fluminense DF got a freekick which was hit by Décio Cunha. Fluminense DF's Carlisle Schultz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abid Bubalo in the 40th minute of play. Pedrinho Seedorf kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Carlisle Schultz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Johnathan Bowden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

After taking down the ball on Selebi-Phikwe's corner Johnathan Bowden fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Carlisle Schultz quite easily take care of the ball. Fluminense DF's Carlisle Schultz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louis-Philippe Pelsmaeckers in the 79th minute of play. Johnathan Bowden blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlisle Schultz having to make a save. In the 86th minute Victor Lundqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlisle Schultz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Márton Peterdy could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Christof Deroek made a huge save.
