When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Pedro Augusto Maranhense took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Erwin Huygens to make any attempt to save it. Yu Cheng Jing sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 13 minutes into the game, Austin Lomas threw the ball into play from the sideline. Velez Sarsfield's Javier Pinola quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Ray Folwill stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Augusto Cordario's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. Austin Lomas made in the 17th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Pedro Augusto Maranhense immediately put the ball in play. In the 20th minute, Arnoldo Mel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Velez Sarsfield booed when Ssc Napoli was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yu Cheng Jing didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Velez Sarsfield's Ando Averin got a free kick in the 87th minute. 91 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Augusto Maranhense came free, but Erwin Huygens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Cordario in the 93rd minute of play forced Ssc Napoli's goalkeeper Ray Folwill to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ray Folwill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Cordario, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Erwin Huygens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zhuo Le Kun in the 95th minute of play. The Ssc Napoli supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Velez Sarsfield's performance. The match ended with a win for Velez Sarsfield.
