When Borussia Dortmund's Fernando Grover, in the 11th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Borussia Dortmund. Borussia Dortmund's Yao Zhan Sang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnoud Van Gestel in the 13th minute of play. Yao Zhan Sang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roni Coryn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leo Dauwen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baltazar Clavijo in the 20th minute of play. Borussia Dortmund's Yao Zhan Sang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bob Leerbels in the 21st minute of play. Leo Dauwen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Grover, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. In the 27th minute, Boruc Wykowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 48th match minute, Borussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mathias Laborda to maneuver through the defense. Bob Leerbels struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Yao Zhan Sang didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bacardi FC. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Roni Coryn stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Borussia Dortmund's Yao Zhan Sang got control of the ball when Arnoud Van Gestel tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Bacardi FC's Charlie Vercalsteren got a free kick in the 54th minute. In the 55th minute, Baltazar Clavijo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Borussia Dortmund fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Waldemar Custódio kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Bacardi FC's Roni Coryn was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 87th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Boruc Wykowski charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Boruc Wykowski the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Bacardi FC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Boruc Wykowski hit a great ball. The supporters of Borussia Dortmund booed when Bacardi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charlie Vercalsteren didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 92nd minute, Baltazar Clavijo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Leo Dauwen was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. When Emesto Llames came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Borussia Dortmund fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emesto Llames couldn't finish the play. After 97 played minutes Borussia Dortmund got a freekick which was hit by Astor Odol. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Borussia Dortmund fans cheered their team off the field, for while Bacardi FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
