A collision led to Bacardi FC getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Torsten Åkesson hit a great ball. The supporters of Vélez Juniors booed when Bacardi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jimmy Wiklund didn't get a good kick on the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Vélez Juniors's Nicolas Roland sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leo Dauwen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Charlie Vercalsteren came free with the goalkeeper in the 12th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Elpidio Vitin could save by the left post. Leo Dauwen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Naike, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute, Guido Luzaide hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roni Coryn in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elpidio Vitin saved Vélez Juniors from getting behind. 20 minutes into the game, Vélez Juniors's Nicolas Roland nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leo Dauwen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 23 minutes into the match, Roni Coryn notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Vélez Juniors's Elpidio Vitin. Elpidio Vitin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Nicolas Roland's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leo Dauwen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Leo Dauwen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolas Roland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leo Dauwen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Naike in the 30th minute of play. Elpidio Vitin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bob Leerbels in the 32nd minute. Elpidio Vitin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnoud Van Gestel in the 34th minute of play. In the 36th minute Nicolas Roland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leo Dauwen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 41 minutes, Arnoud Van Gestel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bacardi FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnoud Van Gestel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bob Leerbels made in the 46th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Vélez Juniors's Cristian Naike. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cristian Naike stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bernardo Sayvion sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 59th minute Arnoud Van Gestel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elpidio Vitin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elpidio Vitin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roni Coryn's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Bacardi FC made a substitution. Cornelis Rondas replaced Roy Voet. Vélez Juniors made a substitution. Donato Efraim replaced Alberto Joey. In the 67th minute of the game Cornelis Rondas made a throw-in which Charlie Vercalsteren played forward. If Nicolas Roland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leo Dauwen was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Bernardo Sayvion showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 75 minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, Vélez Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Karel Christiaens came free, but Elpidio Vitin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 88 minutes into the game, Cristian Naike cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Leo Dauwen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vélez Juniors were awarded a corner in the 94th minute after Bacardi FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Guido Luzaide took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Guido Luzaide got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Leo Dauwen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The Bacardi FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Vélez Juniors's performance. The match ended with a win for Vélez Juniors.
