Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oscar De León in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Evelio Salvadore prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Evelio Salvadore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willie Colon, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 21st minute, Willie Colon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Municipal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar De León in the 24th minute of play forced C.A.Esparta's goalkeeper Evelio Salvadore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Oscar De León had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 41st minute of the game. One of Atlético Municipal:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of C.A.Esparta:s goal. Chuan Cintron had in the 42ndth minute some difficulties stopping Filip Wawrukiewicz's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 46 minutes into the match, C.A.Esparta's goal looked a bit too open when Willie Colon came free, but Evelio Salvadore reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Atlético Municipal made a substitution. Frank Dusett replaced Willie Colon. After a rather tough play, Atlético Municipal's Héctor Lavø got a free kick in the 48th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sven-Hendrik Ohmer was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Oscar De León dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Evelio Salvadore, 1-2. C.A.Esparta's Evelio Salvadore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Dusett in the 58th minute of play. In the 61st minute Atlético Municipal were awarded a corner. Oscar De León went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Frank Dusett managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. C.A.Esparta made a substitution. Oswaldo Junior replaced Sven-Hendrik Ohmer. Evelio Salvadore showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Dusett in the 66th minute of the match. Evelio Salvadore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar De León in the 69th minute of play. Atlético Municipal's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Oscar De León in the 71st minute. Aristides Caldas was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 78th minute Atlético Municipal were awarded a corner. Oscar De León went to the cornerflag to take it. Filip Wawrukiewicz tried in the 78th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Evelio Salvadore a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 1-3. 87 minutes into the match, C.A.Esparta's Tiburcio Guillelmo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Chuan Cintron narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Evelio Salvadore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar De León in the 88th minute of play. In the 96th minute, Oscar De León got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. C.A.Esparta made a substitution. Froilan Nerio replaced Dércio Valentim. The Atlético Municipal supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Atlético Municipal would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
