In the 34th minute Hulk Speed shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zézinho Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Luís Paulo Trevisan fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Roceira SC's protests and gave Luís Paulo Trevisan a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Roceira SC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Luís Paulo Trevisan hit a great ball. In the 39th minute Jânio Lira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelinho Barral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. At last the ball reached Jairo de Souza at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Roceira SC. 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jânio Lira was the one to do the kick off.
