Spectators: 7688 (Terracing: 5767, Seating: 1768, VIP seats: 153) 3 minutes into the game, Sergio Sayvion threw the ball into play from the sideline. SC Braga's Valdomiro Lira quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The throw-in from Sergio Sayvion in the 4th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by SC Braga's Lu Xun Lei. Quintino Carvalhais received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Zacarias Ascencio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zacarias Ascencio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Celta de Virgos's Zacarias Ascencio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 6th minute of play. Zacarias Ascencio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. After 12 minutes of play, SC Braga's Zigmantas Gimbutas made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zacarias Ascencio was left in no man's land by his defense there! 15 minutes into the game, Sergio Sayvion threw the ball into play from the sideline. SC Braga's Amado Parente quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Zigmantas Gimbutas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Celta de Virgos's Zacarias Ascencio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 18th minute of play. Hector Abilio kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the match, Celta de Virgos's goal looked a bit too open when Zigmantas Gimbutas came free, but Zacarias Ascencio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zacarias Ascencio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 23rd minute of the match. Zacarias Ascencio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zigmantas Gimbutas's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. Antonio Adán came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Celta de Virgos's Benny Niva. But to his dismay, Benny Niva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Zigmantas Gimbutas struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Zacarias Ascencio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Braga. The supporters of SC Braga booed when Celta de Virgos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexis Sanchez didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Celta de Virgos defense, Zigmantas Gimbutas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zacarias Ascencio. The Celta de Virgos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zacarias Ascencio should have stopped the shot. In the 42nd minute Zigmantas Gimbutas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zacarias Ascencio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th minute, Zigmantas Gimbutas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Benny Niva stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Amado Parente kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. SC Braga's Geraldo Lucas was substituted for André Jordão. SC Braga made a substitution. Stig-Åke Mattsson replaced Zigmantas Gimbutas. In the 69th minute, Christos Skondras hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antonio Cieri received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Zacarias Ascencio came out and tried to block the shot, but Antonio Cieri slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 74th minute. Zacarias Ascencio came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Braga's Stig-Åke Mattsson. But to his dismay, Stig-Åke Mattsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. Stig-Åke Mattsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Stig-Åke Mattsson scored 1-6 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zacarias Ascencio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Stig-Åke Mattsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zacarias Ascencio having to make a save. 89 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goal looked a bit too open when David Astudillo came free, but Antonio Adán reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Celta de Virgos's Alexis Sanchez got a free kick in the 90th minute. Stig-Åke Mattsson didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-7 via right post in the game's 92nd minute. SC Braga's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Antonio Cieri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zacarias Ascencio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. SC Braga's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
