An unexpectedly hard shot by Wojtek Sokol in the 31st minute of play forced Ajax Poland's goalkeeper Korneliusz Rasimowicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eugeniusz Poniewaz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Gigi Buffon made a huge save. Korneliusz Rasimowicz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Ajax's Jacek Kieca was substituted for Wojtek Sokol. Eugeniusz Poniewaz scored 2-2 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gigi Buffon, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
