An unexpectedly hard shot by Arano Abendano in the 19th minute of play forced Colo-Colo's goalkeeper Eladio Escalona to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Colo-Colo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. The River CBBA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcelo Barovero should have stopped the shot. Marcelo Barovero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivo Basay in the 81st minute of the match. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Colo-Colo's goalkeeper Eladio Escalona, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 88th minute Ponciano Abarca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eladio Escalona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 89 played minutes Colo-Colo got a freekick which was hit by Cheito Ramírez. Argoitz Abeijon kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the River CBBA players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Colo-Colo.
