An unexpectedly hard shot by Fulvio Muzzolon in the 11th minute of play forced Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goalkeeper Herb Good to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 14 minutes into the game, S.S.C. NAPOLI's Fulvio Grande nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Herb Good made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Herb Good came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by S.S.C. NAPOLI's Fulvio Grande. But to his dismay, Fulvio Grande quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 23 minutes into the match, S.S.C. NAPOLI's Fulvio Grande sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Herb Good narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Ciccio Bassani managed to get in a good position for a shot. S.S.C. NAPOLI's supporters rose to their feet, but Ciccio Bassani was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Herb Good breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Collin Grimm hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Herb Good took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fulvio Grande, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes into the match, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goal looked a bit too open when Fulvio Grande came free, but Herb Good reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. NAPOLI booed when Sport Lisboa e Benfica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Barış Birsoy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fulvio Muzzolon to make the kick off. In the 51st minute of the match, Fulvio Muzzolon tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Herb Good saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean Britton in the 56th minute of play forced S.S.C. NAPOLI's goalkeeper Achille Albanesi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fulvio Grande in the 57th minute of play forced Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goalkeeper Herb Good to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Achille Albanesi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean Britton in the 58th minute of the match. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Herb Good proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Sport Lisboa e Benfica from getting a goal against them. In the 63rd minute, Teodor Cãpraru ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Herb Good was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Herb Good played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fulvio Muzzolon in the 67th minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Fulvio Grande got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Herb Good quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. NAPOLI got a freekick which was hit by Jakub Moder. 90 minutes into the match, S.S.C. NAPOLI's goal looked a bit too open when Jean Britton came free, but Achille Albanesi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ciccio Bassanis short, quick shot in the 95thth minute got Herb Good to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. S.S.C. NAPOLI played a much better game than Sport Lisboa e Benfica and deserved their victory. The Sport Lisboa e Benfica players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
