Ruben Sánchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lu Xing Song in the 13th minute of play. In the 16th minute Gilberto Soeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Sánchez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Martin Palermo managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Candela FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Martin Palermo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Umberto Cunha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to La Candela FC getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Walter Samuel hit a great ball. 48 minutes into the game, Hílton Albuquerque was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pégasus F. C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave La Candela FC the free kick. The supporters of La Candela FC booed when Pégasus F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hílton Albuquerque didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kurt Groll to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, La Candela FC's Ruben Sánchez got control of the ball when Kurt Groll tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 58th minute, Xande Sharkin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ruben Sánchez was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Samuca Tepedino charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. La Candela FC's Ruben Sánchez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xande Sharkin in the 83rd minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, Martin Palermo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Umberto Cunha. La Candela FC's Ruben Sánchez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save La Candela FC from getting a goal against them.
