Vitan Nikolchev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andolín Echeandía, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leandro Marques hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Taribo West kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. When Leandro Marques came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Lautaro L.P. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leandro Marques couldn't finish the play. Gary Medel scored 2-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vitan Nikolchev, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andolín Echeandía stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
