Scarafia Ghost made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emil Wielopolski in the 5th minute. Scarafia Ghost came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Zhao Sen Yang. But to his dismay, Zhao Sen Yang quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Scarafia Ghost made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zhao Sen Yang in the 15th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Zhao Sen Yang reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Scarafia Ghost. The goal made the score 2-0. Go Ahead Eagles's Manga Mangkudikusumah was substituted for Iakovos Efthimiadis. Scarafia Ghost showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zhao Sen Yang in the 27th minute of the match. Ivan Chiuzbaian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Amorebieta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Go Ahead Eagles were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cássio Gonçalves took the corner. 31 minutes into the match, Go Ahead Eagles's Erling Lewandowski sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivan Chiuzbaian narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 31st minute, Erling Lewandowski made a precise shot to the right of Ivan Chiuzbaian. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Go Ahead Eagles's Scarafia Ghost played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Primitivo Grau in the 35th minute of play. Scarafia Ghost made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petre Iftode in the 37th minute of play. Panos Karagoutis struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Ivan Chiuzbaian didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Go Ahead Eagles. 40 minutes into the match, Primitivo Grau notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Go Ahead Eagles's Scarafia Ghost. Scarafia Ghost was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Erling Lewandowski made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Go Ahead Eagles's Fernando Amorebieta got a free kick in the 51st minute. Go Ahead Eagles's Cássio Gonçalves managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Bernardo Di Piazza in the 56 minute of the game. Fernando Amorebieta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ivan Chiuzbaian having to make a save. Ivan Chiuzbaian was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and Iustin Bâru capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Iustin Bâru really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2. Ivan Chiuzbaian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iustin Bâru in the 72nd minute of play. If Fernando Amorebieta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Dacian Tilea was substituted for Bernardo Di Piazza. 85 minutes into the match, Go Ahead Eagles's goal looked a bit too open when Petre Iftode came free, but Scarafia Ghost reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Go Ahead Eagles's Iustin Bâru slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ivan Chiuzbaian. That made the score 3-3 after 86 minutes of play. 90 minutes into the match, Stasio Bienienda had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Scarafia Ghost. Go Ahead Eagles's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stasio Bienienda was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Zhao Sen Yang managed to get in a good position for a shot. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s supporters rose to their feet, but Zhao Sen Yang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Scarafia Ghost breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. For all the effort they put into the match, the Go Ahead Eagles players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-.
