Gilbert Cipinski made in the 18th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Tadeusz Raschke immediately put the ball in play. Poland's Jaroslaw Rydz quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Doug Cunningham, made in the 20th minute of the game. In the 21stth minute of the game Damazy Polek who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Northern Ireland's Phillip Woodhall was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Northern Ireland's Bryan Hodgson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tolek Kiszkiel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Damazy Polek scored 0-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Phillip Woodhall, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tadeusz Raschke struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Phillip Woodhall didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Poland. In the 30th minute Damazy Polek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phillip Woodhall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bryan Hodgson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tolek Kiszkiel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bryan Hodgson in the 35th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bryan Hodgson was the one to do the kick off. Phillip Woodhall showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damazy Polek in the 55th minute of the match. Phillip Woodhall was a little too slow when Damazy Polek got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 55th minute. The score was now 0-3. Northern Ireland's Phillip Woodhall proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Northern Ireland from getting a goal against them. Poland's Konstanty Janiczek was substituted for Damazy Polek. Poland's Slawomir Wielopolski was substituted for Kala Mala. A sloppy throw-in by Doug Cunningham in the 62nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Poland's Pawel Dawidowicz. Konstanty Janiczek could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Phillip Woodhall made a huge save. Poland's Johan Kutaisov managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Jim Mannell in the 68 minute of the game. Phillip Woodhall made an important save on a dangerous shot by Konstanty Janiczek in the 69th minute. But to his dismay, Zygmunt Jarmulowicz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Phillip Woodhall didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zygmunt Jarmulowicz went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. Poland's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
