Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. U21 South Korea's 유 길 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Grigoriy Kudryavtsev in the 13th minute of play. Daniil Fomin scored 1-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of 유 길, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Stepan Shalevich hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute of the match U21 South Korea got a corner. U21 Russia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. 김 팽 ran over to the corner to take the kick. U21 South Korea's 유 탄 was substituted for 박 환. Sergey Sabadash showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 김 연, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 김 연 blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sergey Sabadash having to make a save. Sergey Sabadash took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 김 연, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

김 연's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sergey Sabadash read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. With his leg Sergey Sabadash managed to avoid a goal in the 57thth minute, when U21 South Korea's 김 연 fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 63 minutes into the match, U21 South Korea's goal looked a bit too open when Gleb Gorbunov came free, but 유 길 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 김 연 blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sergey Sabadash having to make a save. 김 연 could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Sergey Sabadash made a huge save. Oles Byshovets's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but 유 길 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. U21 South Korea's 김 연 got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 김 석 in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. U21 South Korea's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sergey Sabadash took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ging Root, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 유 길 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gleb Gorbunov in the 93rd minute of play. Grigoriy Kudryavtsev kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
