In the 17th minute PEÇONHENTO FC MG were awarded a corner. Tony Tavares went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Nelsinho Faria to fire away a dangerous shot which Fabio Abalos despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. ionion's Fabio Abalos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save ionion from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliseu Ribeiro during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to PEÇONHENTO FC MG getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Eliseu Ribeiro hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gabriel Delassus in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fabio Abalos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 27 minutes into the match, ionion's goal looked a bit too open when Peter Paul Crouch came free, but Fabio Abalos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Peter Paul Crouch got free with Fabio Abalos in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fabio Abalos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Peter Paul Crouch showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 34 minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, ionion's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Vigil came free, but Fabio Abalos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36th minute, Emanuel Vigil left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The PEÇONHENTO FC MG fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After 39 played minutes ionion got a freekick which was hit by Grigore Pădure. 46 minutes into the match, ionion's goalkeeper Fabio Abalos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Peter Paul Crouch. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ilie Surugiu to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, PEÇONHENTO FC MG's Eliseu Ribeiro got a free kick in the 51st minute. Ilie Surugiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barra Gol having to interfere. Barra Gol showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Taner Zübeyr in the 54th minute of the match. 56 minutes into the match, PEÇONHENTO FC MG's goalkeeper Barra Gol had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ilie Surugiu. Grigore Pădure hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. PEÇONHENTO FC MG made a substitution. Tarcisio Luz replaced Emanuel Vigil. A collision led to ionion getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Dragoş Zăvoiu hit a great ball. Gabriel Delassus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Peter Paul Crouch in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fabio Abalos saved ionion from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Paul Crouch in the 70th minute of play forced ionion's goalkeeper Fabio Abalos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. PEÇONHENTO FC MG's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tony Tavares in the 72nd minute. ionion's Fabio Abalos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gabriel Delassus in the 76th minute of play. PEÇONHENTO FC MG were awarded a corner in the 77th minute after ionion's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tony Tavares took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Tarcisio Luz heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After a rather tough play, ionion's Dragoş Zăvoiu got a free kick in the 86th minute. Niculae Moisescu kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Fabio Abalos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tony Tavares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
