The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rdth minute of the game Alfredo Stefano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jenipapo SC's David Seaman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Aníbal Alagoano could shoot a difficult shot in the 6th minute, which Wincent Dropinski however easily saved by the left post. Alfredo Stefano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Seaman having to interfere. Wincent Dropinski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vinicio Junior, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner ended in Arsenio Gipuzkoa almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Castanheiro SC's Wincent Dropinski did a great save. Wincent Dropinski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurício Arósio in the 20th minute of play. Wincent Dropinski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinicio Junior in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 24th minute, Vinicio Junior left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Jenipapo SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After 29 played minutes Jenipapo SC got a freekick which was hit by Raphael Cunha. 31 minutes into the game, Castanheiro SC's 陶渊伟 nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. David Seaman made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The supporters of Jenipapo SC booed when Castanheiro SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Stefano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Castanheiro SC's Wincent Dropinski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Carlos Monteiro in the 35th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Wincent Dropinski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Carlos Monteiro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Stefano in the 36th minute of play forced Jenipapo SC's goalkeeper David Seaman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Castanheiro SC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Daniel Romero hit a great ball. Arsenio Gipuzkoa was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 40th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Raphael Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Wincent Dropinski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Castanheiro SC booed when Jenipapo SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurício Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Elói Maranhense took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised David Seaman. David Seaman dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Castanheiro SC's Jânio Sanches was substituted for Alfredo Stefano. Castanheiro SC's Elói Maranhense got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. David Seaman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 陶渊伟, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Wincent Dropinski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aníbal Alagoano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Castanheiro SC's Jânio Sanches in the 68th minute got a chance for a shot 68th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The referee ignored Castanheiro SC's protests and gave Fernando Toscano a yellow card for diving instead. In the 70th minute, Fernando Toscano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Castanheiro SC made a substitution. Manfredo Quirino replaced 陶渊伟. After a rather tough play, Castanheiro SC's Fernando Toscano got a free kick in the 71st minute. In the 74th minute of the match Jenipapo SC got a corner. Castanheiro SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Arsenio Gipuzkoa ran over to the corner to take the kick. David Seaman made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Robben Spoelberchs sent off a good shot on target. Wincent Dropinski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Alagoano in the 78th minute of play. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Wincent Dropinski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 92 minutes into the match, Jenipapo SC's goal looked a bit too open when Jânio Sanches came free, but David Seaman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute of the match Castanheiro SC got a corner. Jenipapo SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. José Pedro Carneiro ran over to the corner to take the kick. José Pedro Carneiro made a great header on Castanheiro SC's corner, it was just that Jenipapo SC's David Seaman managed to reach the ball for a save. Aníbal Alagoano struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Wincent Dropinski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jenipapo SC. The Castanheiro SC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Castanheiro SC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
