In the 10th minute Theo Hayles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Rito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, C. A. BELGRANO's goalkeeper Martin Rito had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Theo Hayles. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Theo Hayles in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Martin Rito prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Martin Rito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evelio Pes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Evelio Pes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Martin Rito having to make a save. Evelio Pes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Martin Rito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 32 minutes, Sixto Kaiet mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C. A. BELGRANO and the Club Sportivo Italiano players grew even worse after the yellow card. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Theo Hayles couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gustavo Eladio made a kick off. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Sportivo Italiano's goalkeeper Reynaldo Stephen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 95 minutes, Aureliano Ovando managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. BELGRANO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aureliano Ovando was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Despite being the better team, Club Sportivo Italiano failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
