But to his dismay, Enzo Luongo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Michel Preudhomme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Natalucci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Morocco's Ziyad Khlifi got a free kick in the 41st minute. After having played for 42 minutes, Cristoforo Daniele managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Italy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristoforo Daniele was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Armando Natalucci to make the kick off. Michel Preudhomme made an important save on a dangerous shot by Enzo Luongo in the 52nd minute. Cristoforo Daniele received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Michel Preudhomme came out and tried to block the shot, but Cristoforo Daniele slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 54th minute. Enzo Luongo took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Michel Preudhomme. Michel Preudhomme dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Italy made a substitution. Bar Olo replaced Armando Natalucci. Italy's Dino Grilli was substituted for Davide Spadoni. Michel Preudhomme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bar Olo, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. 74 minutes into the match, Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Abdellatif Benkhirane came free, but Bruno Antognoni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michel Preudhomme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bar Olo, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. When the match was over Italy could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Morocco throughout the match.
