Chaponnay FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 France the free kick. In the 23rd minute, Bakary Ramsamy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Pierre Le Saint dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Moïse Girerd, 1-0. In the 31st minute of the match, Momo Boumedienne tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Moïse Girerd saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Momo Boumedienne in the 71st minute of play forced Chaponnay FC's goalkeeper Moïse Girerd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Jean-Marc Kazmierczak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Evan Le Moullec got free with Felix Poggi in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 88thth minute of the game Jean-Marc Kazmierczak who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chaponnay FC's Moïse Girerd was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 88th match minute, Chaponnay FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stéphane Eynard to maneuver through the defense. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. U21 France fully deserved thier win.
