After a rather tough play, KOCAELİSPOR's Ediz Tekdoğan got a free kick in the 8th minute. Uluç Erben made a great header on U21 Turkey's corner, it was just that KOCAELİSPOR's Şemsettin Tuyuğ managed to reach the ball for a save. Şemsettin Tuyuğ took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mete Tavukcu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mehmet Hamdi Mürsel made in the 24th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Abidin Işınbay. Uchenna Panter came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by KOCAELİSPOR's Ömer Demirci. But to his dismay, Ömer Demirci quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Claudio Delgadillo made in the 31st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Ömer Demirci immediately put the ball in play. Şemsettin Tuyuğ stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Su Čuk's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. After 44 minutes, Abidin Işınbay mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Turkey and the KOCAELİSPOR players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 44th match minute, U21 Turkey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abidin Işınbay to maneuver through the defense. KOCAELİSPOR's Ömer Demirci got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The supporters of KOCAELİSPOR booed when U21 Turkey was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Uluç Erben didn't get a good kick on the ball. 72 minutes into the match, KOCAELİSPOR's goal looked a bit too open when Su Čuk came free, but Şemsettin Tuyuğ reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute Aşır Zabit shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uchenna Panter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Şemsettin Tuyuğ showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Su Čuk in the 87th minute of the match. A collision led to KOCAELİSPOR getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Claudio Delgadillo hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute of the match Hüseyin Rahmi Emektar sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Şemsettin Tuyuğ skillfully saved the ball. The KOCAELİSPOR players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
