After a defensive mix-up in Gil's zone, Tirso Fabelo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gavino Frederico came out of the goal and Tirso Fabelo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gorri Alcalde fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavino Frederico having to interfere. In the 13th minute Arturo Guerrero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gavino Frederico saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gavino Frederico took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from César Quiroga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 15 minutes, Desiderio Tristan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gil and the FC Ibias players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Gil's Desiderio Tristan got a free kick in the 15th minute. Tirso Fabelo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavino Frederico having to interfere. Desiderio Tristan's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Cortez Nobo firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 20th minute, Arturo Guerrero ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gavino Frederico was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Arturo Guerrero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavino Frederico having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Gorri Alcalde notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Gil's Gavino Frederico. Gavino Frederico was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Arturo Guerrero scored 1-3 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gavino Frederico, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Gil getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Americo Maiorga hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Gil defense, Arturo Guerrero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gavino Frederico. The Gil fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gavino Frederico should have stopped the shot. 46 minutes into the match, Gorri Alcalde notched a goal, 1-5, to the right of Gil's Gavino Frederico. Gavino Frederico was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arturo Guerrero to make the kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Gil's goalkeeper Gavino Frederico had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gorri Alcalde. When Edgard Remicio fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gil's protests and gave Edgard Remicio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 62nd minute, Edgard Remicio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 65 played minutes FC Ibias got a freekick which was hit by Maurino Muelas. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruperto Salomon in the 67th minute of play forced FC Ibias's goalkeeper Cortez Nobo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gavino Frederico made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from César Quiroga in the 70th minute of play. With a little luck, Gil's Gavino Frederico got control of the ball when Gorri Alcalde tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tirso Fabelo in the 75th minute of play forced Gil's goalkeeper Gavino Frederico to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Desiderio Tristan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cortez Nobo. FC Ibias's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Desiderio Tristan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-5. FC Ibias's Antonio Lorenzo was substituted for Gorri Alcalde. Gil's players were relieved. 85 minutes into the match, Desiderio Tristan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cortez Nobo. Gil's Gavino Frederico played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by César Quiroga in the 88th minute of play. FC Ibias's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
