The audience was convinced that Ruperto Salomon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Anselmo Txurio was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. In the 13th minute Ruperto Salomon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anselmo Txurio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anselmo Txurio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruperto Salomon, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ruperto Salomon in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anselmo Txurio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Gil's Ruperto Salomon in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye La Culebrita's goalie prevented a goal. Anselmo Txurio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ruperto Salomon in the 26th minute of play. The supporters of Gil booed when La Culebrita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo Venceslas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute Ruperto Salomon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anselmo Txurio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruperto Salomon in the 32nd minute of play forced La Culebrita's goalkeeper Anselmo Txurio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ruperto Salomon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Anselmo Txurio having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Desiderio Tristan in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anselmo Txurio saved La Culebrita from getting behind. In the 41st minute Ruperto Salomon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anselmo Txurio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. La Culebrita's Ignacio Eudoxio got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ignacio Eudoxio made a kick off. La Culebrita's Anselmo Txurio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruperto Salomon in the 54th minute of play. In the 54th match minute, La Culebrita was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cesar Gar to maneuver through the defense. Zeledon Dunixi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Desiderio Tristan put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Anselmo Txurio. The supporters of Gil booed when La Culebrita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victoriano Ugaitz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Gil's Eliseo Petri tried to score from far away in the 65th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Anselmo Txurio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruperto Salomon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cesar Gar kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Eliseo Petri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Gil's Anselmo Txurio threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ruperto Salomon, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Anselmo Txurio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruperto Salomon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. La Culebrita's Anselmo Txurio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save La Culebrita from getting a goal against them. The referee showed Americo Maiorga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The Gil supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gil would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
