In the 15th minute, Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Tomás Azevedo came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi. But to his dismay, Paulo Godoi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. If Paulo Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 27 minutes into the game, Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tomás Azevedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Tomás Azevedo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulo Godoi's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Paulo Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palestra do Interior's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomás Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 33 minutes, Tomás Azevedo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to Metán getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Aldo Rutenio hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tomás Azevedo. That made the score 5-0 after 35 minutes of play. Filiberto Jerardo made in the 40th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Emilio Galo. Paulo Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomás Azevedo having to interfere. Paulo Godoi in the 44thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tomás Azevedo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Paulo Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palestra do Interior's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomás Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Mundo in the 47th minute of play forced Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Allan Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Paulo Godoi was the one to do the kick off. Metán's Tomás Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitório Lago in the 93rd minute of play. Vitório Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Tomás Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Palestra do Interior walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
