Dušan Ančic stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thomas Verheydt's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Spike Foley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Freddie de Nooijer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atlético de Newell's zone, Thomas Verheydt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dušan Ančic came out of the goal and Thomas Verheydt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dušan Ančic took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thomas Verheydt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pastor Eufemio struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Freddie de Nooijer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético de Newell. Dušan Ančic showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thomas Verheydt, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Thomas Verheydt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vampiros Aztecas's supporters rose to their feet, but Thomas Verheydt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dušan Ančic breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 34thth minute of the game Thomas Verheydt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Vampiros Aztecas's Freddie de Nooijer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pastor Eufemio in the 41st minute of play. Macedonio Fonticoba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dušan Ančic having to interfere.

The wind increased when Sebastian Percival made the kick off in the second half. Ragnar Lodbrok charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pastor Eufemio in the 86th minute of play forced Vampiros Aztecas's goalkeeper Freddie de Nooijer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Freddie de Nooijer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cliff Kershaw in the 88th minute of the match. Freddie de Nooijer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cliff Kershaw in the 88th minute of play. If Macedonio Fonticoba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute Benjamin Wood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dušan Ančic saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Club Atlético de Newell fully deserved thier win.
